Poems: Niche

Niche

I'd like make my house in a tree.

Not to
cut one up
and
build from her corpse.

--But to be
so small
that
her
xylem and phloem
would be my air and water supply.

I imagine
the cells
as my rooms.

I could have a cellulose library
with a feather for a day bed.

The branches would be corridors
into the city

where people
could live in
cahoots
with nature.
